Martha Drummond (b. ca. 1830) was a farmer's wife from Barnwell District, South Carolina. Her husband Joseph A. Drummond (b. ca. 1831) served as a private in Co. G and Co. E, 1st South Carolina Infantry (Hagood's). Martha and Joseph had at least three children: James (b. ca. 1856), Susan (b. ca. 1858), and John (b. ca. 1862). Her husband's military records indicate that he was wounded at Second Bull Run on August 30, 1862, then taken prisoner and paroled at Warrenton, Virginia on September 29, 1862. It is unclear if he survived the war. Martha was living alone with her children in the 1870 census and was marked as a widow in the 1880 census.
