Friday eavnin Oct 23 1863
dear wife and children once more I take my
pen in hand to right you a few more lines
witch will in form you that I am
tolrible well at present I hav bin verry
un well for beter than a weak tel yes
terday and to day I feel tolrible well
And I hope these few lines may come
Safe to your hand in dew time and find
you all well I hav bin hear most three
weaks and hav not heard a word from
home I rote you a letter and give you diretion
how to back your leters and laid you in
paper and stamps So you hav no ex cuse for
not righting I lookt for a leter last Saterday
and it has not Come yet I recon you in
tend not riten eny scercly like you did
last winter if you dont want to rite
I wod be glad you wood get some body
to rite a bout the children how thay
ar get ing a long for I am in a heap of
trubble hear and if I cold hear from
home once and awhile I think I wod
be a little beter satisfide I have no
news to rite at all I dont se eny more
prospect of a fite her now than when
I first come hear or harly so mutch
