South Carolina April 13th 1862
Anderson District
Dear William I
this rainy morning take up my pen to let
you now how I am getting I am still mending
I think very fast I can knit rite away
if I get to back set I think I will be well before
long I sit up nearly all of yesterday I also went
out doors yesterday it was all I could doo
to step up in the house I tell you I am so weak
in my neas. Henry is about like he was when
you left whining about he dont appear to bee
much sick he eats hearty all the time. I believe
nothing has happened now since you left I
believe I will close f[or?] this time I will doo better
next time my wrist is getting tired you must
excuse bad writing and spelling for this time
I remain your true wife till Death
