Dear Fathe
I take in present opportunity
of Droping you A few lines
to let you no how I am geting
along I am well at this time
& I hope when thes lines reach
you they may fined you enjoying
the same blesing father i am geting
prety well satisfied and I hop
that you will rest satisfied A
about me for I am enjoying
my self the best in the world
though I have the Dierrer
ever once & while whitch
plages me A litle; father I
havent much nuse to write
this time though Ill write
what I can the enemy is still
in site of us father I went over
to the city last friday & see
[????] a city to I saw the gretes

I went down on the
bay & saw the ships
father ships is the greates
curositys I ever have seen yet
father charleston is aboute
ten Miles squar & it is the
preties & finest place
I ever saw i went in to the
camp & never have seen so
much Money in my life
father our company is geting along
tolible well wee have some
Drunkards & liars & rogues but
thay are few we have the best
set of oficers you have ever
sen & the best in the Regt
excepten none our Colonel
is the best one in the world
father i want you to go to
walhalla & get your salt
when ever it gets their and i gess it
is their by this time you will

two canons three miles and
we had to pull them A
quarter thru the sand & they mired
up to axel tree in the sand
I now will give you some discription
of the Island it is one Mile
wide & it is seven Miles long
& it lies east to A west
coast on the west in their is A
city two Miles long & also
their is forte Moltre and they
hear latly batle A nother larg
batery i dont no what theay
call it now to east their is
Baugards bater whitch about
two hundres yards from this
place & further on the east in
at [ant?] [setle?] their is A
bout ten thousand souders
around about charleston
harbor & at charleston

I have writen to you &
have receive but one I am
sawery that you havent
writen to me no more than
what you have I would like
to read a leter from you ever
week I want you to take
care of every leter that
you get from me I Must close.
