Dear Father I Again take the opportunity
to Drop you A few Lines to Let you
kno that I am well & doing well though
I havent Much News to write, Last knight
I was on gard & A bout two oclock I was
woke up to go on post when I had taken My
post they was A powerful fireing Comininst
out on the Ocean with the blocke cade
we have Not yet Learnd what the fireing
Ment but we Supose that one of our vesels
was Coming in or was trying to Run the
block Cade & they was firing on it but we
do Not kno it to be So
to days paper bring us News from Verginna
& from Missure the News from Verginna
is their has bin A Nother big batle bin
fought at hamton Rods the Loss of the
enemy is estamaided to be two thousand
the Loss on our Side is None we taken two
fine vesels turn Over

by Washington Dalton I will also Send
Some of My old Clothes one vest & My old
black Coat & A brown Coat the brown
Coat is So Smal that I cant get it on
& in the pocket I put A enginruber ball for
Docter tell him that I Maide it My Self
& kept it perpas for him Father I hear they
is A Nother Call for Volinteers in Pickens
I advise you Not to volinteer in Pickens

Last Chance & when you do volinter Come to
this Company as it is geting About dark I
