Dear Father
I Again take the opportunity to write
to you though I havent Much interesting
News to write the only News I hav
is, the telagraph brought us News this
Morning that the yankes has Sunk A
Nother Vesel on the potomack to keep it
from falling in to the hands of the
Confederats it is Said to be one of the
finest in the United States Navy,
the Name of the vesel is Minissota
the worth of the Vesel &
Equipage is $1..100..000; one Million
& one hundred thousand Dollars
March the 22nd.. 1862
Saterday Mornin the News to Day
the Paper this Mornin brought us
News that the yankes Landed fifteen
thousand this Morning at Red Bluf
betwen Charleston & Savana it is thought
they are Maken for the RailRode
I Learn our forces is gone to Meet them
it is thought they will be A General &
Seerious engagement in A few Days
Some where on the Rail Rode betwen
Charleston & Savana tern over

Father I have No futher poticklars of the fight Down
on the Coast Nor wont get News till to Morrow
but as Thomas Dendy is going to Start home in the
Morning I will have it finish My Leter to Day
for I am on gard to Day & Cant write in the
Morning for I wont have time
I will Say to you as I have wrote on the other page that
Lieutenant G.W. Fullerton is up on A Recruiting
expedition I dont want you to join hime withe out
you See that you are A going to be drafted
A gain as I have writen on A Nother page
that I havent Received A Leter frome you in five weeks
but I hope to get one Soon I will Say to you that this
is the Last one that I entend to write to you till I get
A Leter from you So I hope to get A Leter from you
every two weeks; So good By till I get A Leter from
you
Father I am A going to Send A Photograph to you
in the Leter I paid twenty five Cents for it to Send to
you I Shal Send this Leter by T. H. Dendy
I bleive I have writen Enough for this time
I will bring thes Lines to A Close
by giving you My best Respects
thes Lines Leaves Me well at present
