March the 24th 1862
the News to Day
this Morning Paper brings us News
from Island No 10 on the Tenassee
River our forces has had A Nother
Seerious engagement withe the enemy
the fight Lasted four Days the 15th..
16th.. 17th.. 18th.. the enemys Loss is estamated
kill & wonded to be two thousand
& we also taken three hundred & ninty
Prissners & also disable one of the enemys
vesels & Several other vesels was hit but the
damamge is Not yet known
the Loss on our Side is one Lieutenant
kill Mr. Clark one of our batters was
Some what damage but Not Disabled
the Telagraphf Sais the enemy has Not
yet Past Island Not 10.. but hops to Some
fogy knight
this is the only News that is
of interest I will brin My Short Leter
to A Close by Saying to you that thes
Lines Leavs Me & the rest of the boys
well I will Say to you that I havent got
A Leter from you in two weeks & would
Like to hear from you once A week
