Okolona Miss July 15th /62

Dear People

I will drop you a few lines if I am all to do so
though it almost shocks me to think of what I hav to write
you nead not look for no news in here that would interest you
Sam & I was sent from camps on the 4th day of this month
to this place on the account of sickness I am better you
must all take it easy as posable Sam parted with me
yesterday mornin so we will meet nomore on earth. but
I hope we will all meet in heaven. his eyes were closed yesterday
morning about 2 Oclock A.M. his disease was measels
I had him put away as good as I could I wanted to carry
him home but the Doctor told me to l[???] [???] [until?]
fall & then I could take him home. the grave yard is one
mile from this p[l]ace. the Doctor would not let me go to
see him barried. but he said when I got stronger he would
fix away for me to go & see his
grave. I had his head board marked
