Camps Near Triune Tenn Dec [?] 1862
Dear Sister
this morning I will endeavor to[?????] you a few
lines informing you [??????????] though I have
nothing to write that will interest you more than that
we are all well & enjoying the times better I know
than you could expect & I truly hope these few lines
may reach & find you & all well & in good spirits,
Sarah Christmas is drawing near & I am afar from
home so I was last last Christmas I was in Ky. & this
without a dout I will be in Tenn; & now Sarah guess
where I will be next Christmas or if you cant guess for
my sake say you wish that all of us boys could be
at home so we could eat tater & sop & enjoy our selves
to gether.
As for teling you any thing about the movements of
our Army I dont know no more than you do if as
much though we are close enough to the yanks to keep
them on their guard all the time or elce we will slip up
on them before they know it. we may be engaged before
always we have to keep too days rations in our

haversacks in order if we was called on so we
coud be ready at a moments warnen to fall in a
line of battle
We was glad to see Davia Moore & to see that he brought
our Clothes for you nead not dout this is a cold Country
we would of bin glad that he could of stayd until now
for we could of sent more money by this time we
Drew our Bounty last evening
Gen Buckner has left us & gone to Mobile When he left [1]
us he bid us good bye & said he would protect our homes as
long as posably. you nead not dout him fr I think he is
as good a Gen. as we have any where. we now belong
to Claibons Division. [2]
I will quit for I cant think of any to write
