Camp Wats Ala Aug 19 1863
Dear Wife and Children I taken the
preasant opportunity of writing you
you afew lines in answer to your
kind letter which came to hand this
morning it gave me grate pleasure
to hear from you and that you
was all well this leaves me well
I cannot tell when I will come
home but I will come the first
chance I get I cannot tell how
long we will stay hear now
children bee smart and when I
come home I will bring you some
thing there is one hundred and fifty
men here and they are coming in
evry day write soon your
affectionate husband
