No 1 Talapoosa Co Ala December the 20 1863
My Dear husband I seat myself to answer your
two kind letters that come to hand last week
I was glad to hear that you was well this
leaves us all well as common I have nothing
of much importance to write the settlement
is generly very healthy with the exception of
colds you wrote to me to write to you
about the stock the cows looks tolerable well
considering the hard winter it is the hardest
winter that we have had since we have
bin to this contry the hogs are doing
very well what few we have we lost the
best sows we had the spotted sow has 7
likely pigs they are a week old to night
we have killed two of the fatting hogs
and have three more to kill if they dont
die with the colry Dear par I am sory that
your pervision ruined so you could not eat
it I want you to write to me whether you
got the tobaco that me and papy sent you
and whether your eggs was spoilt or not
I want you to write to me what your box
cost you and when I send you some more
pervision I will pay for them I want you
write to me whether you want me to send
you any bed cloths or not and if you do write
me word so I may fix them up for you I

have not heard from your pap in sometime
he wrote to me that he had wrote to you but
had not got no answer from you he sayed
that he did not know the reason why you
did not write to him the chrildren grow
as fast as they can papy say that if you
knew how much he had to do you would
not think that he could come to see you
he has more to do than he can do it
will be plantin time before he gets his gin
house fixed you know how [??] is when
she say that any thing has to be dun it
has to be so for she is boss of the banger I
would beg him to come but you know if I was
and he was to die they never would get dun
quarling about it and for that reason I cant
beg him to come I do not want you to think
hard of him for not comeing for he would come
if he could he comes over evry week to see
how me and the chrildren is getting on
the neighbours is very good to attend to
any thing that me and the chrildren cant
do Miss Amanda Crowell is staying
with me now she has not got no loom
and she is weaving some dresses hear she
has [bin?] here last week and will stay
untill she gets them out I will write to
you something about budy Cullen the caver
ally come the 18 and taken him of[f] and
kept him untill to day and he got a furlow
for 9 days to fix up his buisness he say tha

that if he has to go to the war that he
will come to your ridgment and company
but I dont think that Tom Lovejoy will let
him go he will not go of befour next sunday
I think they will fix it up so he can not
go of[f] they are takin all of the men of[f] now
that is able to shouder arms Gorge Pouge
is here yet he is as desateful as ever he has
Joined the maysons I recon that he is satis
fied now shrub brookins is at home yet he
is sliping and sliding from them and I recon
if the caverally gets after him that they will
[rais?] them and I dont care how soon for he
is no better to be in the war that nobody
else I will quit that subject Grand Mar say
howdy she say that she is about like comon
she say that she never eats potatoes but what
she think of you and if you want me to send
you any more pervision write to me what
you want and I will send it to you and
if you want any more cloths you must let me
know it and I will make them for you I
have jeans enoughft to make you a coat and
pants I recon If you dont need them now I will
send them to you next spring tell Mr
Tucker I will never forget him for his kind
ness to you and if him and you are [married?]
I had rather swap him my sister for
you as she is in the block and I dont
think you are I will quit my nonsence
I want to see you so bad I dont know

what to do I want you to come as soon as
you for four months seems like four yeas I
want you to write often as you can for I
would be glad to get a letter every day
if I could Dear par if I had any to send
money I would send you some but I have
not got but alittle and I have to buy some
salt with it but if you need any I will
sell something to get you some money
to buy you something to live on I must
close as there is company comeing and I
cant write as I want too write soon
my only Love on this earth and if we
never meet no more this side of the
grave let us meet in a better world
than this I ever remain you Devoted
wife and chrildren untill Death
