Febuary the 1 1864
Dear brother I take my pen in hand
to write you a few lines to let you heare
from us all one time more these few lines
leaves us all well at this time your family
is all well as could be expected sister has
a fine sone it was borne the 29 of January
she has bin better of[f] in childbed than
she ever was before she is sitting up
on the bed at this time she seys you
must send him a name every thing is
getting along very well at your house
at this time Mr D L Crowell has got
home he came yesterday on a thirty days
furlow he is well and looks well we received
a letter from Farthers last week and
Mother is dead she died the 19 of January
the rest of the family was all well
sister Matt has moved back there

and her health is very bad they
say that she cant stand is [land?]
without a change we have not heard
from georgia since December I dont
know what has become of them we
look for your farther out soon he
rote he was coming after crismass
I will close by saing I wish you
well and hope you will come home
soon I want you to be a faithful
soaldier to your country and to
your maker to and if we meet
no more on earth I hope we will
meet in a better world than this
so farewell write soon
