Camps 32nd Regt Miss Volrs
Tunnel Hill Georgia Feb 14th 1864
Dear Brother
your Kind Favor came duly to hand and was perused
withe a degree of interest for I assure it was verry
gratifying to recive a letter from a Brother after being
seperated as long as we have I fear that I have no
news that will interest you but such as I have I
give unto you we are still here at the same place
where we was when I wrote you last and our
Regt is in remarkable good health the worst com-
plaint is about Rations we are living verry hard
though the soldiers are resigned to their fate they
are willing to endure all the privations of camp
life a while longer for the sake of liberty
the old Troops are not as near whiped as the citizens
at home our Regt has all Reenlisted with a few
exceptions for the war let it be long or short meat
or no meat shoes or no shoes and Resolved to fight
it out and never lay down their arms while
there is a yankee on southern soil and the Soldiers in this
army has reenlisted generally and I am in hopes that
the soldiers every where will do likewise and
make a united effort for if we give it up now we
will certainly be the most degraded people on
Earth you asked me to give you my oppinoon
[page 2]
in regard to the termination of this war if I
give it it is only an only oppinion but I am in hopes that it will
close out this year if we all act in concert and are
united and Resolve to be free or die I Recon we are
in better spirits here than you imagine and perhaps
in better spirits than you are at Mobile But I think you will
have some hard fighting at Mobile and in Miss
soon
you stated you had not heard from Harris since
last August I am in regular corrispondance with
them there they are all living there yet and
was all well a few days ago Sam and Bob Hendry
have both been enrolled as state troops but had not
gone out the last letter Permelia McCarty son was
at Columbus as city gard Neal Capehart was detaild
as an overseer that is a bout all that I Know a
bout them I dont Know when I shall get a
furlough to go home but if I get one soon I shall
go by Mobile and will call on you if I can
find you I am in hopes you will favor me with
a line as soon as you get this for I assure you that
it is a great satisfaction these war times to hear
from my friends write where abouts in Ala
you live and how you are doing
yours as Ever Neal F Hendry
