Children I rite you
a few lines this Blessed sabbath
[eve?]ning to let you no I am well
at this time as common only i
am running off a little at my bowels
[but?] it ceeps me a little [???] yet
and i doe Pray to god these
few lines may come to you sweet
hand in a few days and find you
and the children well and do
ing well and a plenty to Eat
and to wear for it is more than
we get here i havent got much
news to rite and a good Eal to tho
i cant rite it if i could see you
i could tell you all a bout it
Every thing is verry still here
now we havent heard the roaring
of the Cannon nor the sound of
musketry for 2 or 3 days the yanks
is all gone and we dont no where
they have gone back to Chattanooga

alabama and i dont no which
our Brigade has been on a [re?]

this is the 3 letter i have rote

have got narrow answer yet
i am a geting verry anxious
