Clark Ala July 18 1862 Dear Linda I Send
a few lines By Mr Harrston this is three times
I have writen to you I would like for you to write to
me once a week I havent Eny thing worth your
hearing I am getting along Verry well But want
to come home I will come Just as Soon as I can
get off the times is verry Lively here in the
Swamp we were the first that Located here and
there is Some thirty companies close around us
now I Send you two Bushels of Salt it is some
of the first we made and is not very whit But
good Salt I Say for you not to Loan out one
grain of it with out it is to ma until I come
home if Eny one wants it you may Sell as
much as 30 quarts of it at fifty cts per quart
But nothing Less Save that in the Small Sack
for table use I Shall make yet & Buy and Bring
all the Salt I can get when I come

I am Left here at the Shantys alone But
if I could see you Amon & Little Ally of a night
and times When I have Leusure it would Be all
Right on the geess I have plenty to eat and
good water and have neighbors Patrick and Chase
and made a great many acquaintances I think
I should make as much money on Salt as I expected
and taking the whole in consitartion I hope you
wile be as patient and try to get along the Best
you can and live in hopes of Better Times
take Care and Be Saving its hard to tell
what times [??] are to come[??] tell White
that it is no place here for him it take the
Best Constitutions to Stand and Do nothing much
Less Work I work when I please or Do enything Else
I please tell Jake come of my little coop and other
things tell Amon I will come home and me and him
