Deare Father I
now take the pleasure of
riting yo a few lines to
inform yo that I am well
at the present time and on my
way to Lousaanna with a
Squad of 16 men to work
on gunboats I have not
got time to right yo but
a few lines I Jest got in
on the 5OClock train last
eavning and have got to get
my transpotation and have
but a few minits to do
it I have Charge of the Squad
I expect to go to Se[?]port
on the red river by the
way of port Hudson the boys
are all well rip got in a
few days ago and is well

we expect a fight at Vicksburg
soon though all is quite at
present I dont expect to get
back Soon though I hope
I will have a good time
of it yo mus right to
me Soon Send yore letters
to port Hudson and I will
get John L Hoyt to Send
one I will as Soon as I
get to my Journey end
So nothing more at the
present give my respects
to all
yores truly untell
