Biography:
William M. Miller (b. ca. 1832) was a carpenter from Monroe County, Alabama. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, William was living in the household of his father, James Miller (b. ca. 1802), also a carpenter. He enlisted in Co. C, 2nd Alabama Infantry on September 1, 1861. The regiment was disbanded at Ft. Pillow, Tennessee in March 1862, at which time Miller enlisted in Co. A, 42nd Alabama Infantry. His enlistment records indicate that he was taken prisoner and later paroled.
