Dear Ant Ann I this evening
embrace the oppertunity of informing
you that I am still blest with a reasnibul
potion of helth and I am inhops tha this
will finde you all enjoying the same blesing
LW is well and a gitting a long as well as
common wee are campt at tunilhill Ga wee
had a little fight at the rige and had to leve
thir our Regt was not in the fight at the rige
but wee was close by wee was in site wee
stood and seed the yanks charge our men severl
times in their brest works but they drove them
back ever time and kild a large number of
them with a small loss for wee had the
advanteg of position but they finaly broke
our line and wee had to leave their wee was
in the rear and they folerd us and on the
27 wee stopt at ringole and fought them
untill our wagon trane could git a head
and wee kild a grate many of them our
compiny did not git ary man hurt our Regt got
2 kild and 8 wounded they whipt us at the
rige but wee give them a decent whipin
at ringole wee have built us

rite good winter quarters here but I cant teell
how long wee will stay here for it seems that
the yanks has got so much the advantege of us
that I have no ider what they will do they
have driven us from the strongest posion
that wee have got just because some of our
men is tierd of the ware till they wont fight
a tall it is said that Wathous [Walthall’s] Brigade give way and
that broke our line and wee all had to leave
I intend if we air ever run over and subgated
it shall never be because I did not do my
deuty I have not got a letter from you in some
time you must rite to me often tell sister
Margaret that I will rite to her as soon as I
can wee have bin moving a bou ght so that
I have had no chance to git paper to rite to any
of you tell mary that I want to see her and
charly and tell Malisa that her uncle Tom
she must bee a good Girl that he wants to see
her I want to come home this winter if I
can but it is a bad chance to git off from
here I faild to git my close and I am needing
some you must all rite to me I must close
