Biography: 

Dr. Larkin M. Matthews (1834-1918) resided in Cherokee County, Alabama in 1860. He was the son of William and Parthenia Matthews (1805-1877) and the brother to David Matthews (b. ca. 1834). In 1870, he was a farm-hand working on his mother's farm in Alabama. He relocated to Florida and then to Colquitt County, Georgia. He served in Co. C, 6th GA Cavalry. He enlisted in 1862 and surrendered in 1865 in Kingston, Georgia. He later practiced medicine in Georgia.
