Dear father I take my pen in hand to in form you that I am well at the
presant hoping these few lines will find you in Joy the same blessing we have
very cold weather the fifteent of this munth was a day longed to be re menberde
by the souldiers it rained and sleeted and snowed all day that day the next day
was not much better this is afaire day but very cold I drawn some money
friday of last I am going to send won hundred and thirty dollars home to you
by Mr nora urqurite I want you to take hit and do the best you
can with it I want you to write to me wheather you you get it or not I dont
think thaire is any dificulty about it I would send some more but the times
is so haird here that I think I had better ceep aright smart wit me tha did
not pay me up all tha was dew me he said that he would drop it with Sweat or
Rhoda brooks mother I afewwords to you I am as well as can be expected my health
very good except some lit tle cold and I have a braking out on me and I have
had avery sore hand but it is about well now we have had very haird times ever
snce cristmust we was out on picket about tow weeks before crist must and was in
the weater more than we would have bin the weather was so cold that had to by me
another blanket and I have so much marching to do that my shoes is awring out
very fast and my pants is warin out as fast as my shoes is I also boucht two f
paire of socks I subcribed fur apaire of shoes this morning fur fear I
would get ketch with out and cood not gethem when I wanted them asfur pants when
these gives out I dont nowhat I willd furpants if I cant get from home I
resceived aletter from beckey the other day which I was very glad to here from
here and you all mother I have bin troub ble very bad lateely I am heaire and
my mind is wit you at home I wish the waire would stop fur I cant live in any
pease attall heair I want you to write to me as soon asthis comes to hand I
want you to write how champion is if you no and I want you to write to me
whaire mr lacy is efyou no cant find out whaire he is I woush that champion
cood get afrloe and go home I [w]ant you to send me some thing good to eat if you
can get the chance fur our rashenes is very scanty I must come toaclose fur it
night and my hand is so numed that I cant write any more I must get my supper
papa Jone wilson said that he gives you his best respects he said that he wants
to seea you very bad he hopes that he will get to seea you some time ornother
I will close I cood as much more but it is so cold
