Camp Mangum
Raleigh NC Aprile 7th 1862
Dear Wife and childrean I onst more take
the oppertunity of dropping you a few lines
to lette you now that I am tolerable well at
at this tim With the Exception of bad cold
and a very bad cough I have the worste cogh
that I ever had in my life but that is a general
complaint in camp I hope when thease few
lines may come to hand they will find you all
all well I would bee very glad to See you all
onst more but I cant Say when it will bee
I had Expected to bee home at our meatting but
I cant Say at this time whether I can or not for
it is a hard matter for one to get a way hear affter
he is onst hear I tell you If i dont get
home tell preaching i have ritten to J. F Hudson
for him to take you to preaching a saturday
and Sunday I have bin locking for a letter
from you for the Several last days but have
not got non yet I hope you will rite to
as often as you can for it is not a hour in
the Day but what i think of you and our

i want you to try and have as mutch corn
planted as you can and if that ground
is not broke up round the house you
better have it don while it is Weat for
it will get Dry after a while if you plant
enny corn i want you to bee very

their was a short Sermon preached
yesterday but it was not finished
on the account of a Fire in the [woods?]
it was thought that if it was not stoped
it would get to a powder mill and
that broke up the preaching I must
come to a close for this time by
