Station Va Oct 14th 1863 }
Mrs Catharine Lefevers Dear and
loving wife by the assistance of
almighty god I am a gain permited
to Rite you a few lines to Inform
you that Iam well and Still a
live while menny have fallen
that was well and In good health
this time yesturday they air now
Shairing their part with the
Dead I will say to you that
after 7 Days hard marchen
we came in Contact with the
yankes at this point and we
had a Desperate fight [1] with
them while it lasted it only
lasted a bout 2 or 3 howers but
it was very Sevear while it
lasted their was non of our
men in gaged but our Brigade

and the ole Pedigrew Brigade
we lost at least one 4th of our
Brigade in kiled wondend
and missen Iam Sorrow to in
form you that H. Dagerheardt
was kiled he was shot Dead
threw the Body Henry Leonard
was also kiled and two others
that you do not now one
was a brother to Burt Parker
and one David Wilson we lost
also 6 wonded out of our Co
non from our Side only Obed
Jarrett and he is only Slitely you
will please Inform Mrss.
Dagerheardt a bout Henry I now
it will be a hard thing for hur
to hear but Sow it is and we
have to put up with it as it
hits us If you air a ble take
this letter and lette Mrs Dagerheardt

Bury our Dead it is thoat we
will have a nother fight with
the yankes in a Day or two they
have fallen back to Manasses
4 or 5 miles from hear In their
Breast works If we attact them
a gain it will be a Sevear fight
we have a large frse and Sow
have they Dear wife I cant
Rite half what I would
like to rite at this time as
we air orderd to coock Rations
I will yet tell you that we had
our genel Coock wonded but
not Daingerously Dear wife

and the Dear little childrean
