My beloved wife I seat my
self this morning to lett you no
that by the bleasing of the lord I
am stil a live and in tolerable
health Dear wife this is 7 Days
that the most Desporate Battle
has bin going on and Stil no
Sine to sease I was not in
the 2 first Days fight I was
waten on the wonded Since
that time I have bin with
the Regt wat few is left we
had a most Desporate fight
yestruday Eavning I Receved
a slite wond in my left
Shoulder al tho I am Stil
with the co I trust to the
good lord that I may Stil
escape to see the end of this

fight I tel you their neaver
has bin such a Sloughter in
men Since the war commenced
we have lost a menny a
good man But no comparing
with the yankes Some say we
kiled 5 to one I would Say
a bout 3 to one our brigade
has lost heavy and Sow has
Kirklandes Jo Richey is Dead
he had his leg taken off and
Died we lost 8 men kiled
out of our co on the field
the first Eavning we had 2 men
wonded last Eavning and one Liut
we now have 20 men out of
65 in our co Sid was Stil a
live yesturday I Saw him I would
like to Rite more but cant at
this time we air loocken for
the yankes Every minute they air Stil
in site I wil Rite a gain in a
few Days If I am permited to close
