Friend John i will rite
you a few lines to let
you know how we are getting
Along I have been of[f] duty
10 days with a lame side in
regimental hospital i have got
smart now and am working in
the hospital. Smith has got
smart and has gone to the
Company. i rote you a letter
when we first arived in
neworleans we are 4 miles from
neworleans now at Greenesvill
it is about as warm here now
as it is in Maine in July
they have new patatoes and string
beans here now.
we got paid the other day
i expresseg $50.00 to you to take

[care] of for me.
tell the folkes that I
am all right Some of the regt
that was up at red river are
Coming back I dont know
where they are going to send us.
the last that we [heard?] from the army
of the patomack was good I
