St. Anthony Falls Min April 4 /63

Dear Brother
I received your letter
dated jan 4 and was glad to hear from
you and to hear that you are well
and injoying labors or the Fruits
of your labors I did not no but that
you ware all ded I have not heard from
any one of you since you rote last
I cant say when that was,
I am well as usual and my children
is the same, I just received your
letter I worked in the woods last winter
and your letter laid in the office all winter
I cooked in the woods last winter and
Some think I shall cook on the river
this Spring They oferd me two dollars
and a half if they offer three I shall go
all the wages is good out hear,
Winslow and family is will two of his
boys is in the indian war fiting the Sues

you rite that father is on the
town or is supported by the town
it appears to me that, that must be
rather hard for children to let there
parents come on the town if he was
out hear he should have help as
long as I have it I am not verry
well situated to keep any boddy as
I have no home but if you will send
him out hear he will be taken
care of as long as he lives
I have a had rather a hard time in
his world so far since I have ben
out in this country I have lost
more than a nough to support
father the rest of his days but I am
willing to do all that I can and I
persume that winslow would help
it appears that Amaziah could [Amaziah was another brother]
take him in his family and not
be any poorer for that
if I was worth one dollar to his ten
I should that it would be my duty to
take care of him

can I dont suppose that fa
Father can rite I shall send
him a little money to help him
self with
this spring is opning lively all
tho the spring is backward we have
hed but a verry little snow this
winter have not done anny thing
towards getting in our crops yet
it is still cold and dry
grain is not verry high Potatoes
is selling well from forty to fifty
five pur bushes [bushels]
I should like to see you out hear
this summer I think that wages will
be good they offer now from $1.50 to $2
pur day cash up times is a getting
better then they ust to be
I dont know as I have anny thing more
to rite this time so good By
