In Hospital Point of Rock

June 20th [1864]

Dear Father

I take this
opertunity to write to you
to let you no that I
am wounded and in
the Hospital I am
wounded in the calf of
my left leg it is not
very bad it did not hit
the bone I was wounded
day before yesterday
we charged on the rebs
rifle pits we got cut up
pretty bad yesterday
thare was forty three guns
in the regt I have not heard
from thare to day I do not
want to have you worry
about me for I am feeling
first [best?] I think that
we shall go away from

here to day horner is wounded
in the thy his is not
very bad nothing but a
flesh wound I think that
he went abord of the boat
last night I think that
wee shall be home in a
few weeks they let them go
home that are able to
[ride?] I could walk quite
well if I had a pair of
crutches old george is
all wright yet I do not
feel like writing enny
more now I will write
again as soon as we get
moved wee expect to go away
from here to day wee expect
to go to point lookout from
here
