Well how do you do
I sopose you ar all well
of course at eny rate
I am I receved a letter
frome Betsy last tuesday
and the next day I got
one frome you and Father
and I got the box the
same day it touck me
about half an our to get
it open it wase nailed
up so tight and wase
very much much pleased
with the contents every
thing come in good shape

and the shirts thay are
just the thing you
need not fear but that thay
suit well thay are just
the a fit if I did not
like them I dont think that
I should have much trouble
getting rid of them for the
boys think a prety cute
and the apples & cakes thay
come in good shape I dont
know how to express myself
for you kindenes (one and all)
for taking so much pains
to send so many things to
me but the next I can do or say
is I am very much ablidged
to you all the gloves just the
thing for my use but I
dont need them now for
a short time after I rote to
you for them I bought a
pair the wase one of our

boys had a good new
pair of striped gloves
double knit and he got
out of money and I
bought them for fifty
cents so you see I have got
gloves anough now
you said you dident know
but that I should think it wase
a stingy little box but
it it aint so it is large
anough and the[y] wase stuff
anough anough in it to
tell Warren & Joanna that
I am much ablidged to them
for the tobacco medicine if
I neve use the medicine
perhaps it will do of the rest
some good
tell Ida I shant for get
her I shall have to fetch her
something when I come home
you say you had all the fun

of packing the box but I
think that had full as
much fun in unpacking
it as yo did in packing it
I receved five dollars in Fathers
letter so you can tell him that
come all right I the I haint got
time to wright enother letter to
to day as I would rite to him
but I shall have to put it off
till another time. I haint rot
eny news yet nor I haint got
much the news we get forome
the seat of wase now dont look
very favorable lately but it may
come out all right yet I dont pay
much attention to what
the papers say here yestoday
when we wer out drilling
we formed a line of battle in
the streats and loaded our peaces
with blank catridges and the
fired and the wase one had in
a ball and who it wase the[y]
dont eny boddy know yet
but away it went right
through a mans head it
went in right above his nose
and come out of the back
part of his head it mad a
hole in his forhead
big round as a sled stake
well Abby I shall have to stop
pretty soon give my best respects to
all
write soon all [??] you this Frome your absent Brother
[1] tell Jane I haint found out whether that
bill was good yet but I will soo[n]
if it aint counterfit
it will fetch eight
dollars
