Algiers LA july 6th 1864    Dear Father & mother              I dont sopose that you have got my last letter yet but I sopose that a letter is welcome most eny time frome me the same as it is frome eny of you I wrote three or fore days ago and now I am a going to write you a nother I have got my old discharge paper and have had it for a long time now I am agoing put in to the envelope and send a short line with it to let you know what it is I want you to keep it I write a [page 2] today to Nancy and now I happened to think about this old discharge and I want to get rid of that so I have got to write another but I shant write a very long one for I haint got eny thing to write I wrote all that I could think of in her letter and you will see that and it will bee all the same as though I wrot the whole in this. I am well and that is all you car for or at least the most I sopose I cant stop to write eny more this time [page 3] write soon as you can all write about as soon as you get that money give my best respects to all good by   this frome             Jairus
