maryland June 15 [1861]
Dear wife I now sit down to
Let you know how I am getting
along, I have wrote 2 letters to
you that I have not had
any answers to, I should like
to hear from you evey day if I could
I do not feel very smart now, I
have got a sore throat, and lip, I
feel as cross as a Bear I have not
got any letters from Sarah yet, I
think it is Laying in the office in
Boston how is the Children and the
Rest of the folks, I Should like to
see them all and be with them
I hope you are well, green Peas, and
Cherries are ripe the Regiment is now
forming a line in the grove behind
the camp in the shade, our compay
is not on duty to day we have been
out all night on Picket guard and
we

[2] are sleeping they say our time
on the 18 of July that would
it from the time we left B
besides our months pay we
land warrant [3] that is 160 i
land we can get 100 d[ollars]
for it in Boston I hope so
will be a good lift gi[ve]
love to all I sent a paper to
Frank Hopkinson ask him if
he got it is father selling
lobsters now let me know
Capt Dade [4] wrote me word that
you could get my Engine money
I am glad of it for it will
do you some good But I dont
know of any more to write
now I will Close kiss the
children for me

to write to aunt Nelson
to day the Rebels have left
