Camp Essex June 20th [1861] [1]
St Dennis maryland
Dear wife and mother I write
to both of you in one letter to
let you know how I get along, I am
about the Same and I hope
this will find you the same
George Creasey has got back he
brought some papers for me
I sent my picture home by
magor Jackman he left to
day we had a splendid flag
sent on here to day by the
Ladies of New York , in token of
the love that exists between
the Seventh Regiment of New
York and our own Regiment
it is Silk of the neatest
work, it has an Eagle on
top of the staff it is Solid
Silver , Col made a great

Speech and he can make
one to, he is a man evey inch
of him, god Bless the new
yorkers, we shall have a
grand time in New York
when we go home we
have not got Paid as yet
I will send when we do
how is Charles Trip now
is he down to oldtown now
give my love to him I have
not got Frank Hopkinson
Letter yet, give my love to
all, how is the Children now,
kiss them for me, I was
glad to get a letter from mother
how is Father has aunt nelson
got her garden dug yet, I
Should like some cucumber that
[?] Sarah has not wrote yet
I dont think she got my
letter Have you got any
papers from me I sent
