on Board of the Barke Voltigeur Dear wife it
Seams a Long time Since i got a Letter from you
But i Shall [right?] one to day i told you in
my Last to Send your Letter to Washington But
Since then the friens have made arangements
to have the Letter here the Same as usal and
then they will Be Sent to us But i Seppose you
have Sent to Washington mind now and
Send here the Soldiersi Began to Embark

yesterday and they are Still a going on Board
of the diferent vesells the 23 are a going on
Board of the harear and the highlander
it is Lively here now i tell you and wee
Shall Be of in a day or two there was a
terible axident on Shore yesterday Some
of Capt Sentere Company whare in a
Shop when one of the number in a Jokeing
way aimed gun at one of the Boys and Snapt
the Lock it went of and Blew out his Brains
it Spread a gloom through out the Regiment
we have had a Snow Storm for the first time
it fell about there inhes and two day it is
awfull cold and i Shall Be glad to get
where it is warmer we Shall go to Fortress
munroe and take our departure from there
i think you will here of a great victory
Before manney weeks But there will Be
Some hard fighting the Capt of the vesell
is a fine old fellow and i Like him
much i dont have But Little to do i go on

times i tell you the Boys that are with
all Belong to the Salam Company my
Company Boys are on Board of the gen Boat
[Charrer?] with Capt Eldridge there is 16
Sailors on Board two i Shall have two
tell you that i Cant get Postage Stamp
here for Love or money and you will have
to Send a few in a Letter i have Bought
the Portraite of gen Burnsides Washington
and gen Scott to Send in the Letter you
Can keep them or give them away just
as you Please i will keep you Posted where
elce i go tell Mrs Marshall if you have
a Chance to See her that i Saw Temare
yesterday and he was tip top give my Love
to her i always Liked her and give my
Love to aunt nelson and hattie and
Father and mother and all hands in
generall i will now Close hoping
this will find you all well kiss
