March the 25 [1862]
dear wife i got a Letter from you Last night also one
from Mr Fogg i was glad to hear from you to know that
you was well i wrote yesterday to you and this will make
two this week you Speak about John Lowell he is in the 24th
I See him about every day they are encamped Right a Long Side
of us he Belongs to Company H his folks Can Send him a
Letter and he will get it Adams Express [1] will Run here Shortly
and then we Can Send to one another oh how i Should Like
Something from home good to eat i Shall Send all the things
i get if the Express Runs i have got one more Rebel Shin Plaster
and i will give it to hattie it is a virginia one 25 cents
only the Papers will Be Rather old when they Reach me i got the
Letter with aunt nelsons in it yes i Should think that there
would Be Stories about ike Hale they had ought to tar and Feather
him and i heard that Foster and Brown where compeled
to Leave the 17th well there is mean men in all Regiments
and there is Some in this one and in Company I to
i dont mean the Privats nor the noncommisiond officer i
thought i had got Rid of them Last Summer well every
dog will have his day thats So i hardly know what to

write about to day i Suppose that you have got a Plenty
of mud and Slosh now out here the trees are in full
Bloom But i dont think But Little of the Southern Country
anny how i dont See nothing to Compare with New
the old Bay State i hope we Shall get Paid of[f] Before Long
it is a Long time Since i had anny monney and i want you
to have Some to there is a Large Reinforcement on its way
here for the generall well i Shall have to make
this a Short Letter for i am all out of news
give my Love to all kiss the Children for me and
keep a Lookout for the Box So good Bye for the
Present from your husband
