i got a Letter from you yesterday and i am Glad that you
Got mine it is So hot that i Can Hardly write But only
think of the Cushing Gaurds going to washington again at
about a year from the time we went Before But to
think that John Stockman Should go i Cant See what he
was thinking of after Being discharged from the Service
the Capt is as Mad as a hopper and the Boys all
talk about him i shouldnt Be Supprised if he had to
Stay three years and i See By the Paper that Bill
Forbes and Goodman have gone to you must have Been
allarmed to hear Such a noise in the night well
i think that it was a Plan of McClennans to
have Banks Reatreat for we have had good news
Since a Steamer Came Last night from Norfolk and
Brought the News that Corrint was taken and Rich
mond Surrounded i hope to god it is So it will
make the Rebels howl But we had ought to kill
all we get that the way to get Rid of them i
dont think them anny Better than Pirates that So
have you Sen Tom Marshall yet i heard he was
very Sick and that Elbridge Pike was dead is
it So gen Renos Brigade was Revied By gen Burnside
and Staff gen Foster and Staff Last Friday and i tell

night this afternoon Tuesday moring June 8 this
this is a Splendid moring the Birds are Singing
as though they would Break there throats i Should Like

have Just got the news that Richmond is

Burnside i hope it is So But we have all kinds
of Rumors in Camp first one thing then another
our Brigade is to Be Reveied to day By Burny
and gov Stanly we are Living Better than we have
a good many of the Sick haves Been Sent to Befort
they get well Sooner down there By the Salt water
i wish that you had a Cheaper Rent i think you Pay
to much it takes all for Rent Rents out this way
are awfull high this house that we are in with
Six Rooms would Rent for ten dollers a month
a Large Lot of oranges arived the other day they Sell
for ten cents apiece apples five cents Bill Hop
kins Says that Frank was wounded at the Battle
of Williamsburg is it So or not well i hope this war

Says he dont think the fights at Roanoke
