Dear Wife June 15th [1862]
i will now write you a few Lines to Let you know
how i am getting along this is a Splendid moring and i
Suppose that the Regt will go to Church to day we [went?]
Last Sunday i was greatly disapointted in not getting
a Letter on Friday when the mail got in But i hope
to get one or two next mail the furlough men are
Bgining to Come Back But i Dont think Marshall or
gurney will i hope to god that Ned gurney
wont for he will meet with a warm Reseption
he aint Been worth his Salt all the time he was
with us i hope that Marshall will get well and
Come Back give my Love to Tom if you See him
So Frank Hopkinson got wounded do you ever See
him if you do ask him for me how he Likes
the whistle of Bullets well Some must Be killed
and some wounded that the Stile of war We
are Still having hot wether and it is not Like
the hot wether at home it is hot enough at noon to almost
Boil in the Sun i am glad that we aint
anny farther down South Sam Read was down
to our house yesterday and took dinner with
us Sam Looks as well as ever

Recieve visitors thats So Bill Hopkinson is a Comeing
home he is to Be dicharged on acount of disbilty
when Col kurts went home to Boston he went
to See the govonner and he told him about
the Company in the 23 and he Stateted
that Co I was as Brave a Set of men as
he had in the Regiment it want the
men that he found fault with it was
well you Can ( geuss) i thought it would Come
out all Right we have dress Parades evry eavig
at Six oclock in our H Broad St is the
widest and Colest i Should Like to Be at
home to this moring and take the children
out to walk i Suppose that Nelley has got
to quite a woman now gen Burnsides has gone
to Richmond to Se Mc cllenman his wife
is Comeing out there i think that there will
be a movent Before Long i Se By the Papers
that the name of the Camp at Lynfield
has Been Changed to Camp Stanton there
will Be a good Chance for Soldiers to
get comissions in the New Regts i Should
Like a Second Lt. Berth if any Body
intersede for me John Merrill and
myself talk of writing to Col Coffin
to intirsede for he is a Friend of
the governer well i will Close
for this time hopeing that
you and the Children are
well as usual
