Monday July 7th [1862]
Dear Wife it was with
Pleasure that i Recieved a Letter from
you Last night i also got one from
mr wait about Frank Leut Johnson
would not take him for what
i do not know i Suppose that
you have got my Last Letters By
this time But i have Been awfull
Sick with the Jaundice i have
had as much as i want of it
the docter has Physiced me about
enough a good many have got
the Jaundice out here i am geting
Better now i have Just taken
a few Ripe figs of[f] the Trees
i dont dare eat them Just now
i wish you had them But John
Merrill Says that he will eat
them apples are about Ripe

Blackberys and huckleberys
are Plenty Peaches will Soon Be Ripe gen Burnside with
ten thousand men Left this
department yesterday for
Richmond for McClennen
we have had all kinds of
rumors here for the Last week
that mc Clennan has Been
wiped another that he
has taken the Rebel Capitol
well i hope he has But
things do Look a Little Blue
that So the wether is hot
and Sultry as usual i Shall
expetct to get the Babys
Pitchure Before Long and
yours two i want to See
how you Look now you
Can Send them in a Letter
By Putting on two Stamps

have grown Some By this time
yes i know that Tom Marshall
time is out to day we thought
that Some of the furloughed
ones would Come in this
Steamer But they did not
Come So Bill has got home
give my Respects to him another
Steamer has Just got in from
New york with another mail
i hope i Shal get another Letter
well i will now Close By
hope that this will find
you all well kis the
Children for me give
my Love to all write
as often as Posible
