Dear wife i got your Letter of the
27th i was Just about to write
when i got it we Shall Be
Paid off today and i Shall Send
you some monny by Tom
davenport he will Be at
home on a furlough and
i want you to give him the
Blue army Pants and he will
Bring them out Grant done
Just Right to refused the Com
mand of the army of the
Potomac he Can do all that
he Sets out to do in the west
But he would Be the Same
as Mc Clennan and Hooker
Before he had been there
a week it is to near wash
ington where all the

getting worse day to much

See a Rain out here it
has Rained now every day
for a month But it is
done now and it is hot
enough to Bake a Person it
is very Sickly this Summer
that is fever and ague [1] and
intermitent fever we Lost

Ratfield of ipswich Brother
to william that was Shot
at whitehall Last fall
we have Lost a kind
Comrade and Soldier
we Pity his Poor old
Mother for he was her
only Support and the
Company will Send
her a Subsciption to
help her well i must
Close give my Love to
Mother and all the Rest
i hope this will find you all
well kis the Children
for me your Husband
