Dear wife i recieved a Letter from you
Last night it has Been Some time Since i got one
for the mail Boat Broke down and had to Put
Back to New york But i was glad to get this one
it was dated Aug the 31St i tell you it is enough
to give anny one the Bluse to think that
the army has Been defeatted So Bad i dont
know what they are thinking of the army is
full of Traitors and what Can we expect to do
as Long as it is So i Believe that Mc Dowel is
a Traitor and i hope that gen Pope will have
them Court Marchaled and the goverment have
got to Root out the infernell Traitors as we
might as well give up Burnside McClennen
Pope Sigell Bulter and Halleck them are
the men they are Loyel generels well
you need not Send the Shirts i Shall
have to get them here and i have got to
Buy me a Pair of Boots for the army Shoes
are good for nothing they dont Last a month
and the Rascals that make them ought to
Be hung Boots and Shirts are high out here
and i Shant Be able to Send much mony
if any this time i owe a good deal

about every day i Suppose that the old

a good many Soldiers now that was a good
on Dr Perkins i hope this will find you all

Send my Letter to N P we have had
N east Rain Storm for the Last
week and it is Raining now i dont know
what else to write about nothing new
about here But we Expelts the Rebels
will attack this Place if they do it
will Be Sory day for them well
