Dear Wife i have Just got a Letter
from you the mail got in Last
night But my Box didnot come i
went to Adams office to See and
there was no express Feight Came on
this Boat But i hope that it will
get here this week for the wether
is getting Cool now your Letter was
dated oct the 12th i am Sorry i
didnot Send Some monny for it
makes me feel Bad not to have
the Children have what they want
i wish that Nelley Could go to School
But i Suppose that it will Be Just as
well next Spring i am Sorry
that Lissy Stutters Cant She Be
Broke of it now She is young i
hope She Can i expect that a
great Battle will Come of in

virginia this week and i hope
to the Lord that McClennan
wont Leave Rebels enough to
make one Company and then
this war would Be over So Aunt
Nelson dont Like my Pitcture well
She is hard to Suit well we
Cant tell about our Staying here
there is a good many Soldiers
Comeing here and if it will end
this war i dont Care how
Soon we meet the enemy
i expect that we will Be
in a half dozen more fights
Before this war is over yes we
heard that the 5th and 8th
48 and 45 where Comeing
out here well there is work
for them to do it aint no
Boys Play yes i do Like the
President Proclamation i Back
him up in anything to Put
down the Rebellion But i

am down on the
northern Rebels this niger question
is making this war Last Longer
and the President has got as
much he Can do to keep them
off that was a nice meet in
Fanuel hall [1] Boston all about
a niger why if Charles Summer
had Been killed that time in
Congress it would have Been
Better for the Country and
Greely and wendall philips
i tell you it aint nigers
that i am fighting for But my
Country and union i am willing
that the niger Should Be
Free But for Good Sake keep
them here or drive them out
of the Country them are my
Sentiments it Seems to me
that a Civil war is about to
Brake out in the northern
States the way things are

i hope that gen Devans will
Be electedt gov well give

Children for me i hope
