July 10th [1863]
Dear Wife i Now Sit down two
Let you know how and where i
am at this Present moment for
we have Been moved and
Humbuged around So much
Lately that we dont know
anything yesterday we Moved
twice But finaly got Setled in
Barracks on the fair ground
our old Place when we Captured
the Place But how Long we
Shall Stay i dont know the
Expidition has got Back and
the Boys are all Jaded out
i Should Like to have Some
of those hookers and Copperheads
at home to Come out here
and take a Little March of
75 or 80 miles in the month

July with the glass up to 95 in
the Shade then they would
know how good it is with [Some?]
[Fist?] and Chasing all over N C
after the Rebels well they have
done a good deal of damage to
the Rebels Brought in about
four hundred horses and nigers
and a number of Prisoners our
Lient Col Chambers was
wounded in the Shouldur and
is now in the Hospittal
and the Regt is under the
Command of Magor Brewsters
we are having awfull hot wether
to hot to Put your head out
of doors i Suppose that you will
See John Foos Before you get
this and you will give him
the Shirt we get all kinds
of Reports from the army
of the Potomac we hear that

gen Foster got a dispatch Last
night that Lees Army was all
Broken up and taken Prisoner
i hope it is So But i Cant
hardly Believe it we must all
Admit that he is a Smart
general and they Say that he
is not a Secesh at heart But
Cant help it now that he
is into it i think that Rose
crans will give them fits i
Should think that vicsburg ought
to have Been taken By this
time i wish that old Halleck
wont get Put out for the
Soldiers all think that he
is an old traitor i See the
niger Soldiers every day and
they Look well i wish to
good god that thare was
a Million in the field
i hope that we Shall get
Paid of[f] this month for we

all want Some monny i hope
that i Shall get a fulough
this Summer for i want to
See you all But i Suppose
that it would Be hard to
Come away the Second time
well give my Love to Mother
and Father and all the Rest
of the folks we Expect a
Maill Boat in to day i
will give you the names of
the Boats that Bring the
mail Dudly Buck E L Ferry
and Albanny well i must
Close kis the children
for me i hope this will
find you all well
