Gettys Station Via
Friday the 26th [1864]
Dear wife we
have at Last got Back to Camp we
Left whenham on Tuesday at 2 oclock and
went to Boston and took the Cars
By the Full River [Boats?] [for?] Newyork
when we arrived on wedneday moring
we did not make anny Stop in
New york But went Right on to
Philidelphia where we arived at dark
as Soon as we had Landed and formed
a Line we marched to the volunter
Refreshment Saloon and got a good
Supper wich done us a good deal
of good at ten o clock we took
the cars for Baltimore and
arived there at 2 oclock thursday
we made a Stop in Baltimore until
five oclockcock five oclock and then
took the Boat for Fosters [?????]
where we arived at 7 oclock the
next morning and and went on
Board another Boat and Came
here i tell you that i am tired of

Rideing this Place is about 2 miles
from Portsmouth and about 4 from
Norfolk this is a nice Place to Camp
and i think that i Shall Like well
well i Shall not write a Long
Letter this time only to Let you
know that i am all Right i
fellt Bad the morning i Left
But i Shall Shake it off you must
keep up good Courage give my Love
to mother and Aunt Nelson and
Hattie and all the Rest and kiss
the darlling Children for me
