Dear wife i got your Letter of the 26th on
weneday and i was glad to hear from you
we have got Back to the City once more
and i am glad enough i tell you we
have taken the 25th Reg Place to do
Patroll duty So we Live in houses in grand
Syle we have had a hard time of it
out on Picket So Long the Boys have to
keep Clean here on this kind of duty
Shoes well Blacked Brasses well Cleaned
wite gloves and Soforth i was on as
Seargent of the gaurd yesterday it is
Spelndid i tell you we have dress
Parades in the moring and gaurd
mounting wich Brings out the
Citisens for i must tell you that
is a handome Place in the Summer
the trees Look So nice and the City
is full of them By the way i
got the Box the other day at the

Express ofice and it was a good one on
me i had made up my mind for
a good time But dont you think
the Pies where all spoilt and one
Bottle of Bitters Broken But the Cake
was good and the apples well i Suppose
it is to hot wethe to Send Such things
dont feell Bad about it i Sent you a
Letter with five dollers in it Some
time a go and i hope that you have
got it i Should have written more
But we have Been knocked around
So much that i hardly know where
i am i dont See why Capt Dade
dont write and awnser my
Letter i Shall have to Blow him
up Ned gurney is at home i Suppose
and he had Better Stay there give
my Respets to John Stockman if
you have a Chance yes there has
been great union victorys and gen
McClennan is the Boy to do it

we Left the Sick are all getting
well fast But we have Lost a
good manny gilmors Band give
a Sacred Concert to morow Sunday
in front of gen Fosters quarters and
it will Be a good thing Strawberies
are in the market for Sale it
Looks Like a yankee City here now
there is men from New york and
Boston and Baltimore out here
and they are making monny
fast i want Some Stamps or
i Cannot write you Cannot
get them here for Love or monny
about two hundred dollers worth
got here the other day and they
wher all gone Before i Could turn
around you must write often
give my Love to all By the
