Dear Folks
I was very glad to
hear from home because
It is lonesome business
a laying around camp
although we have changed
twice since I wrote
The first we changed
we came to Louisville
Next we came over into
Indiana btween Jeffersonville
& New Albany below the
falls we have very good
times now we have a
good place to wash &
water and everything
handy.

There is some of the Old
Regiment here and they
will steal anything they
can get thier hands on
I have had severall things
stole some money with the
balance. They are a going
to try a fellow this morn
-ing for stealing money
We get Cincinnati papers
by dark (Eve. Lines.) so we
know the news all the
time, ther, is lots of news
printed in Louisville, ther
is plenty Secesh around
here. Two companies of
men went from here
three day’s ago. We are
under marching orders
& I expect we will leave
tomorrow. I have heard
nothing paticurely from
Jim as yet.

Although we are ging to
the Regiment pretty soon
I expect. There is several
of the boys have been
throwed off their horses
some got their legs & arms
some heads broke, & so on.
It has rained here & been
pretty cold but it is very
warm and nice this morn-
-ing. We have all the
tents belonging to the re-
-giment, but we are a going
to pack our tents and leave
them at Louisville, untill we
go into winter quarters.
There has about 10 or 12
boys deserted, but they
have got them marked
The Col. Tells me that
we leave this PM or night
I have no news to
tell you of any impor

-tance. The Regiment has
got an awfull big name
here at Louisville. They
tell us we need not be
ashamed of it.
Jim well and hearty
now & hope these few
lines will find you
in the same state of heath
