Dear mother Brothers
and Sisters i set my
Self this evening
after hearing from
home to inform you
of my troubels which i
haft to bair i am
well and harty but
the thauts of parting
with a father i dont
See howe i can stand
it well mother i
was by him from
the time he took sick
until he died i took
his read hankerchief
from off his pore
old forehead and i
have got all of his
cloths in my knapsack

and i am a going
to fetch them home
with me if i live
to git home and i
hope i will Well
Mother i sent some
of his cloths home
in his coffen Box
thempants was mine
all of the wrest of the
thing was his mother
his cloths which he
had on him when
he died there was a
good woman washed
them and the morning
that i started him
home they was not
dry an i could not
send them home
but i will take
Care of them if i can
any way a tol

Well mother i
wrote that i was in
line of Battel well
the rebs stood there ground
until Tuesday evening
and hour men made
them retreat i was not
in the fight i was stationed
at the batery but i could
see all that was a going
on hour side lost a
bout one hundred
killed and three hundred
wounded the Rebs loss
was twice the amount
of hours we took some
prisners and a bout
two hundred head of
fat cattle hour men
i think will take
them yette i think
if we have luck

Hour Boyes
was out on the
Battel field
to day and
they found a great
many little things
they said that they
seen dead Rebs aling
dead on the Battel field
they killed one man
in hour Ridgment and
wounded three john
Hood was out on the
Scrimage line and fired
Twelve shots well i
will guite on that
Subject well mother
it took some ninty
dollar to send father
home and you i
guess have sent a check
all Ready to washington
