Biography: 

Freeland Q. Hood (ca. 1845-1902) was a son of Amy and Franklin K. Hood (b. ca. 1821), a farmer from Hocking County, Ohio. Along with his father, Freeland mustered into service as privates in Co. I, 151st Ohio Infantry (National Guard) on May 2, 1864. The 151st was a 100-day regiment recruited specifically for the defense of Washington, D.C., and it was at Washington that Franklin Hood died of disease on July 7, 1864. Freeland (also spelled Frelin and Frealin) mustered out with the regiment on August 27, 1864.
