Biography: 

Franklin K. Hood (b. ca. 1821) was a farmer from Hocking County, Ohio. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census he and his wife, Amy, had eight children in the household. Franklin and his son, Freeland Q. Hood (ca. 1845-1902), mustered into service as privates in Co. I, 151st Ohio Infantry (National Guard) on May 2, 1864. The 151st was a 100-day regiment recruited specifically for the defense of Washington, D.C., and it was at Washington that Franklin Hood died of disease on July 7, 1864.
