Dear child I received your kind letter the other
day I was glad to here from you. It apears
by your letter that you all are well. that
pleases me I got one from your uncle
elick day before yesterday he said all was well
he stated he had ben oup to se you afew dayes
ago he said you was well. I got aletter from
your uncle John last weak he is sick in the
hospital at Detroit Michigan Ira is in Arcans
= es we halve gon in to winter quarters there is
nothing new sence I last wrote to you
the small pox is bad here in the regiment
great meany of the boys are down with it
but one death by it yet. you said that
I did not tell you what to do with that
money I sent you. I sent it to ou to youse
for what ever you need. youse it for what
ever you please I wont to here from
you often last Saturday one yeare ago
we left camp Denison we halve had a
few days of cold weather here to day is worm
and pleasant I am cook for the co I cook
12 hundread meals pur weak it keeps me buisy
I concluded to wright on this letter
and you could read it all, it is from
your ant Ellen Miars. this leaves me well
