Dear wife it is with great pleasure
that iagain take my pen in hand to
pen a fiew lines to you to let you
know that iam well at presant and
cincerely hope those fiew lines wil
find you and the children all well
irecieved your verry kind letter
of the thirteenth of december and
also the letter that i am going to
Send to hur home i hav to call my
mother you Said you thaught it was
the thing that She neaded well
ithink so to i am glad to here that
you hav a plenty of wood i was a
fraid you might Suffer for wood
you Said if you was me you would
Send hur letter with out a Stamp
i backed it when irote it before
i thought of sending it to you first
and then i thaught that i would

and then if their was anny lies
told of about it you would no it
we are Six miles South of nashville
i donot no how long we will Stay
here a Soldier dont no anny thing
beforehand i wish this ungodly
war would Soon come to a close
iam tired of it and then ino you

life and that makes my life
more unhappy their is a cainbrake
close to our camp and their is
oceans of robbins comes their to
rost every knight and we go
out in the cain with candle
and take a Stick and we can
knock them down they are good
to eat we had a potpy for
dinner to day i knocked down
