Biography: 

Gibson Hood (b. ca. 1842) was from Beaver County, Pennsylvania. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, Gibson was living in the household of his widowed mother, Mary Hood, who owned a farm. Gibson Hood served as a corporal in Co. H, 140th Pennsylvania Infantry. Hood's regiment suffered heavy losses at Gettysburg and Spotsylvania Court House, and Gibson was wounded in both battles. He survived and was mustered out of service on May 31, 1865. He died in 1871.
