Dear Brother
I take this
Iemning the Pleasant
Opportunity to answer
your letter which
I Receved this
week and I was very
glat to hear from
you good faller and
that you being so
well and I did
see in your letter
that you being in
the fite three days
but I see in the letter

that the Rebels
did do you no harm
which is a grate
joy to me to hear
that and I think
it is the same to you
but I think it is
no danger that you
will come in a fite
agen I think the
ware is Putty near
over and the Rebels
wipt and the
traters kilt and
the soulders can
go home to his
native home but

I can tel you
that it was a
grate Explosion
in our contrey
when Mr Lincoln
git shut all the
peopels did say
it is not rite that
thay shut him most
of the Coperhead
says that worth
but sum of tham
says it rite for him
but it was onley
tham which knows
nothing from the
world and from
the war

that is all wat
I have to write
for this time I
Exspect to speeke
with you before long
a go if I am not
mistaking so I will
come to a close fer
this time by saying
that I am all well
at present and
I hope this letter
will find you in
the same state of
good health if it
