Mrs. Hamilton
yours in refference
to your son and informing me
of my mistake was reccived
several days since but I have
not had the Leisure time to
answer untill this wet and
disagreeable day which has afforded
Me the time and pleasure of
doing a small favor for the
worthy mother of a brave and fallen
Soldier I am sorry to say there is
no one present who can make
affadfite to his death Robt A Hut-
chison who was captured the same
time James was has been discharged
and probably is at home now
which I think (but aint certain)
is near Harrisvill if you could
see him he can probably make

the proper affadavit or if
not tell of some one who
Can but for fear that he
Cannot I will Enclose you
a certifficate signed by m[y]self
and then that m[a]y answer
the purpose I charge nothing
for my service I can do for a
Private solder and much less
the widoed & bereaved mother
of one Very Respt yours

no date is given of his death con –
sequently I can send no Certifficate
